No — there is no scientific consensus that current AI systems are conscious; large language models generate fluent, human-like text through statistical pattern matching over training data, which is behavioral mimicry rather than demonstrated subjective experience. As David Chalmers, put it on the record: "The really hard problem of consciousness is the problem of experience."
