How do we ensure equitable access to AI technology worldwide?

Equitable global access to AI depends on affordable compute and connectivity, open-weight and open-source models, local-language datasets, digital-skills investment, and international rules that prevent capability concentration in a few firms or nations. As UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), put it on the record: "Member States should ensure that the benefits of AI technologies are available and accessible to all, taking into consideration the specific needs of different age groups, cultural systems, different language groups, persons with disabilities, girls and women, and disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable people or people in vulnerable situations."
